Beluga
A complex social life, a rich vocal repertoire and an eternal smile for this Arctic whale, very well adapted to ice conditions. The only cetacean to live year-round in the St. Lawrence, the gregarious population of belugas is small, isolated and fragile. Decimated by intense hunting which ended in 1979, it has shown no sign of recovery despite the absence of predators and the conservation measures taken in its favor. Since the beginning of the 2000s,.
belugas are in decline. In 2012, the abnormally high mortalities of newborn belugas sounded the alarm for all researchers who monitor the St. Lawrence population. The beluga is at the origin of the creation of the Saguenay–Saint-Laurent marine park in 1998.
Grey Seal
Recognizable by its horse-like head when it is on the surface of the water, the gray seal is one of the largest seals that frequent the waters of the St. Lawrence. Hugely hunted in the past for its fur, its population is now constantly increasing. The gray seal has a significant impact on the ecosystem it frequents, since it feeds mainly on the most abundant prey found in its environment, such as cod.
Pinguin

The Isle Mill
L'Isle-aux-Coudres is located in the heart of the St. Lawrence River, two kilometers from the north shore. In 1815, the lack of an efficient mill for grinding grain caused famine on the island. Residents often have to go to the north shore, despite the dangerous canoe crossings on the river and especially in winter! The Seminary of Quebec, Lord of the island, gives its approval to the construction of a water mill; It was created in 1825. However, over the years, the water mill proved to be of low efficiency. This is why a windmill was built nearby in 1836.
Pedneault Cider House
La Cidrerie et Vergers Pedneault is a century-old family business located in Isle-aux-Coudres and is the main fruit farm in the region. Our orchards extend over an area of twenty-two hectares, where more than 6,000 apple trees (35 varieties of apples) and 3,000 fruit trees (pear trees, plum trees, cherry trees, saskatoon berries) are cultivated. Fruits grow in abundance thanks to the microclimate of the Isle, favoring both the opening of our orchards to the population for pick-your-own and meeting all our production needs.
Pointe de la Prairie Lighthouse
Commonly called the Block, construction of the first lighthouse on Isle-aux-Coudres began in June 1930 and was completed in July 1931. A white light shone every 5 seconds and a fog horn, powered by compressed air, shouted every 30 seconds for 2.5 seconds. In April 1934, the frequency was changed: shout 3 seconds, silence 12 seconds. Until 1971, guards remained there to operate the fog horn and lights. Became obsolete , the old lighthouse was replaced by a new one, and was
1603 Savonnerie
In my twenties, I met a visionary man. He was my boss and a mentor. In Kamouraska, I picked wild mushrooms, edible and therapeutic plants for its vegetarian restaurant. He taught me the identification of wild plants, vegetarianism and the benefits of natural products. He influenced my professional career. I continued my studies in naturopathy at age 26 and then carved my path in the world of beauty and natural health. In 2006, I founded Les Soins Corporels l’Herbier, a company manufacturing body care products. The richness of the fields, forests, and island coasts has always fascinated me.
